To understand a waste collector, first you have to understand how printer works. When printing documents, the paper will pass through a heated roller-like mechanism called “fuser.” The heat will melt the loose toner power while the paper passes through the fuser, thus create printed documents. Powder that wasn’t consumed during the process will then fall into the waste collector.
So what should we do when the Samsung printer is showing replace waste toner container message?
- Remove the container and gently dump the very light weighted powder waste. Thoroughly clean the unit or rinse under water and let it dry completely before re-installment.
2. Clean the area where the waste collector engages with the
sensor. A cotton swab can be used to help cleaning the hard to
reach surface.
3. Change the toner waste container after trying the cleaning
method after several times. It will ensure the printer to
function properly over a longer period of time.

All Printers have Waste Toner Collectors.
ReplyDeleteThe Earlier Model Sammy's (CLP-600N's for example) had Built-in "Piggy-Back" Toner Waste Collectors that were part of a 2-pieces Toner-Cartridge design.
This Collector sat on TOP of the actual Toner Cartridge.
Any one with a penchant for "Refilling" the Toner Cartridges?? either knowingly or unknowingly had to disassemble this waster collector from off of the top of the actual toner cartridge in order to empty it before re-filling the actual toner cartridge below it.
Now?/ Sammy's simply have a single waste toner collector to make the printers more compact & space saving.
1 Waste Toner Collector cartridge in lieu of 4 total.
Makes the actual Toner cartridges themselves smaller as well.
Just a Friendly FYI (Yes, I have no life, lolz)
I am so glad I found your post this morning! I really need my printer today, had all toners replaced last week and now the waste toner was full waaahaa steely monday morning. Luckily it all worked out - I just emptied the waste toner (gives a mess when you turn it upside down) and now it's working fine again. And yes you do have to take all colour toners out before you can take out the waste toner. Good luck everyone.
ReplyDeleteDear Westerman,
DeleteThank you for the comment. We're glad that our post helped you and thank you for the update!

I followed these instructions on how to clean and empty the cartridge but the printer is still reading "Waste Toner Full"... HELPPPP! :)
DeleteDear Katherine,
DeleteThank you for leaving a comment. Have you try to reboot your printer? You need to turn off the printer and let it rest a few minutes before turning it back on. That way, the printer should automatically reset the counter for the waste toner.
Hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Toner Spot Customer Service Team

I was wondering the same thing. What is that green arrow thingy for? Thank you. joanpay@aol.com
DeleteHello Joan,
DeleteThank you for contacting us. You're probably looking at a sealing tape, which is located at the end of the toner. In the case of a sealing tape, please carefully pull it out before inserting the cartridge to the print before first use.
Hope this helps,

Hi there, I am experiencing yellow and magenta shadows, about three times down any page I try to print with color on it. I have the samsung Xpress C460W and only use OEM cartridges.
ReplyDeleteThis issue started part way through the previous cartridges and has continued with the new ones. How do I stop these shadows. They make the color printing a useless option for this printer. I would throw it away and get a new one, not this brand but I have 3 pretty much full color cartridges. It prints the black print just fine. No issues there.
Thanks,
Malcolm
Dear Malcolm,
DeleteThank you for contacting us. Below are one of the suggestions provided on the official user manual for Xpress C460W printer model:
"During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the machine. This buildup can cause print quality problems, such as toner specks or smearing. Cleaning the inside of the machine clears and reduces these problems.
To prevent damage to the imaging unit, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes. Cover it with a piece of paper, if necessary.
Do not touch the green area of the imaging unit. Use the handle on the imaging unit to avoid touching this area.
Use a dry lint free cloth when cleaning the inside of the machine, be careful not to damage the transfer roller or any other inside parts. Do not use solvents such as benzene or thinner. Printing quality problems can occur and cause damage to the machine.
Use a dry lint-free cloth to clean the machine.
Turn the machine off and unplug the power cord. Wait for the machine to cool down. If your machine has a power switch, turn the power switch off before cleaning the machine."
We can email you an illustration if needed. If cleaning does not work, you might consider resetting the printer or change to a new set of color toners.
Hope this helps!

is it advisable just to clean to waste toner container rather than replacing it with a new one ?
ReplyDeleteDear Rommel,
DeleteThank you for the comment. It depends on the condition of the machine. If the printer has been working for few years, we would suggest changing to a new waster toner container especially the price is not overwhelming. However, other factors have to be considered such as knowledge in printer condition, how to change parts, etc.
Hope this helps!

I cleaned out the waste on my samsung 460 and now it reads Prepare new imaging unit. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteDear Customer,
DeleteYou might need to reset the printer telling it that a new unit has been installed. In addition, you can try to turn off the printer, wait for a short moment, then turn it back on again see if will fix the recognition issue.
Hope this helps,
Toner Spot Customer Service Team
Thx for your reply. I only cleaned out the waste. I didn't replace the imaging unit. Does this message mean I have to replace it. Or is there something else that can or should be done. Thx
ReplyDeleteDear Eddie,
DeleteThere is a chance that you do have to change the cartridge. It might just happened that you need to clean the waste toner and swap out the image unit at the same time.
You can pinpoint on which image unit needs to be changed.
If you need a new cartridge, here's our current 10% off coupon code just in case - SAVEMORE.

ReplyDeleteHello Mr. Victor,
DeleteHave you tried to reset the printer? Also try to completely turn off the printer and wait a few minutes before turning it back on, see if the problem persists.
Also try to clean the contact area since it might get dirty when you try to move the waste collector.
Hope it helps somehow.
