Toner Spot – Fun Christmas Facts

Happy Holidays!!

Here’s something that you might not know about Christmas:

1. The estimated number of Christmas trees cut down each year is between 33 million and 36 million. However, in the United States, 2 to 3 seeds are planted for every Christmas tree chopped.

2. There are a total of 364 gifts if adding up all the presents in the Twelve Days of Christmas.

3. Ever heard of the song Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? Well, Norwegian scientists said that the red nose can possibly caused by the parasitic infection in reindeer’s respiratory system (Highfield, 1998).

4. The tallest Christmas tree ever cut was a 221 feet Douglas fir back in 1950. The tree was displayed at the Northgate Shopping Center in Seattle, Washington (Guinness Book of World Records, 2008).

5. It usually takes about 15 years before a tree to grow to a size big enough as the common Christmas trees we see today.

6. Spiders or spider webs are two of the common Christmas tree decorations in Poland. Polish consider spider as a symbol of prosperity and good things at Christmas (Gulevich, 2000).

7. Christmas sales make up approximately 1/6 or more of all retail sales in the United States.

8. The song “Jingle Bells” was actually written for Thanksgiving instead of Christmas in 1857.

Fiscal Cliff Calculator from CreditCards.com

It seems like everybody is talking about the upcoming fiscal cliff. The simple and clear explanation is this: There will be a $607 billion increase in automatic annual tax with more spending cuts if the Congress and White House cannot agree on a solution by the end of the year. That means only few weeks left before the big change kicks it.

So what does it means to you? Generally speaking, more taxes starting next year. We found this great fiscal cliff calculator provided by CreditCards.com where you can compare the changes in tax payment before and after the "fiscal cliff" takes effect.

There are other more sophisticated caculators out there, but the one from CreditCards.com is the most suitable for the general public instead of employers, accounts, etc.

During economic uncertainty and slow recovery, it is very important to cut expenses and save cash in order to take on oppurtunities that are out there. The cash perserved can be used as coushion during tough times and can even be used to take advantages of the oppurtunities that present themselves. One way to cut operating expenses is to take a serious look at your daily printing costs. If you can produce the same results at a lower cost, ask yourself why you would not take advantage of it?

Please visit our website at www.toner-spot.com for affordable printing supplies at premium quality. You can also contact us at sales@toner-spot.com to ask for quotes for all the printers in your office. Presidential Vote! Here are Some Famous Past Presidential Quotes in History

George Washington (1789-1797)

“Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.”

“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809)
“That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.”

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.

Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865)

"You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909)
“The only man who makes no mistake is the man who does nothing.”

Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Harry S. Truman (1945-1953)

“You cannot stop the spread of an idea by passing a law against it.”

Richard Nixon (1969-1974)
"What kind of nation we will be, what kind of world we will live in, whether we shape the future in the image of our hopes, is ours to determine by our actions and our choices."
“A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits.”

Okidata C9300/C9500 Printing Issue – Dirty Background

There are numerous functional parts within a printer. Just like toners and drums, most of these not-so-familiar pieces need to replace over a period of time.

We all have experiences where the print quality isn’t up to par. Let it be streaking lines on the sides, undefined edges, or dirty/non-white background, these types of problems usually can be solved by replacing the toner or drum cartridges. However, occasionally it’s not the toner or drum that needs to be changed.

If you are experiencing dirty background issue similar to the image shown below, here is the step by step solution that might be helpful in fixing the problem for your Okidata C9300 or C9500 printers.

1. Check and see if the image drum has been exposed to light for a period of time. If so, replace the I/D unit.

2. Check and see if the roller in the fuser is dirty. If so, replace the fuser unit.

3. Make sure the paper thickness setting is correct: Light: 64 g/m², Medium Light 64 to 74 g/m², Medium 75 to 90 g/m², Medium Heavy 91 to 104 g/m², Heavy 105 to 120 g/m², Ultra Heavy 121 to 203 g/m² Transparency.

4. Make sure the LED head assembly is properly connected to the connection board.

5. Make sure the +5V output correctly pins between the connection board and the LED head assembly. If not then replace the connection board accordingly.

6. Check the cable connections and replace the low-voltage power unit if necessary.

7. If the 34V output to the power connector pin 2 is not on the engine board (+34V: Pin 12, 13, 14), replace the engine board accordingly.

8. Replace the high-voltage power unit or belt cassette assembly if necessary.

9. Make sure the I/D unit terminal is properly connected to the contact assembly.

10. Replace the image drum if all the above steps do not result in normal printing quality.

The above methods are recommended to perform with professional technicians. Please contact printer support or email us if you have further inquiries.

What are the Differences between Remanufactured Konica Minolta 1300 Toner and Drum?

Toner cartridge is not the only component required to make a printer to function properly for particular printer models. There is also an essential part called the “drum” cartridge that is needed. We received a number of inquiries regarding the remanufactured/compatible Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W toner and drum:

- My printer is showing low ink level, can I just replace my toner to fix the issue?

- What do you mean by there’s a toner AND a drum for my Konica Minolta printer?

- When I order the drum unit, I thought the toner is included also, isn’t it?

*Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W, 1350W, 1380MF, and 1390MF are the printer models that use both the 1300W toner and drum in order for the machine to function properly.

There are many technical details regarding the differences between a drum and a toner. To simplify the explanation, a drum holds the image generated by the mechanisms inside the printer. In some cases, a drum also serves as a waste collector, gathering the residuals from each print job. In the other hand, a toner is merely a container that holds the color material, or the ink toner – mostly black, cyan, yellow, and magenta. During the printing process, the drum will roll through the toner, in combination with heat and pressure from the fuser, print out different documents accordingly.

Generally speaking, a drum cartridge usually comes in higher page yield then a toner cartridge. That’s probably one of the reasons why most users are not familiar with the term “drum” since they rarely get the chance to replace the unit. A drum is usually replaced after 4 to 5 toners’ life cycles. In most cases, drum cartridges are larger than toner cartridges. In fact, most toner cartridges are designed to clip inside a drum unit. Perhaps that’s why some customers thought they can get both the toner and the drum by purchasing the drum unit only.

Remember to double check with the printer message when the light goes on requesting for a toner or drum replacement. If the message doesn’t specify the issue, below are some signs showing that it might be time to get a new drum unit:

- Lighter print color

- Gently shake the toner cartridge does not help in receiving regular print quality

- Problem still exists after replacing the toner

When the toner and drum needs arise, don’t forget we carry ISO-9001 standard remanufactured/compatible products with 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed for every order placed on our website – www.toner-spot.com.
