How to Temporarily Enable the “Non-Dell Toner” Setting

“My Dell printer is showing unsupported notification for my already installed compatible toner unit.”
"The status monitor is showing 0% toner life left but I’m sure I can still get some pages out. What can I do?”

“I just want to print black and white copies but the printer is telling me to replace color toner and will not let me print, help!”

Enabling the “non-Dell toner” setting can generally solve the aforementioned issues temporarily. Normally the below window will pop up and tell you how much toner life left for each color unit –

However, by changing the original setting, the printer will no longer be able to read the toner level. But at least your more pressing issues can be solved right on the spot. Below are the instructions on how to enable the “non-Dell toner” setting for your printer (based on Dell 3000CN, 3010CN, 3100CN, and 3115CN printer models):

1. Go to the Setup Menu
2. Select Admin/Configure
3. Select Maintenance
4. Select Non-Dell Toner
5. Select left or right to switch the setting to On, press enter
6. Turn off the printer for couple minutes then turn it back on
