Useful Business-Related Twitter Chat Groups and Hashtags

We should know what Twitter is about now since this micro-blogging service created huge hypes nearly all over the world when it first started in 2006. Limit to 140 characters per update, or “tweet,” Twitter has been embraced by users who value the virtue of short and defined messages. The record shows that Twitter has more than 175 million accounts in 2011, and of course we are among one of the many users. Back in 2006, Twitter was mainly used in a more personal fashion like checking on friend’s status. Shortly after, marketing efforts stepped into the game. Celebrities, interest groups, brands, and stores, all have Twitter account with the purposes of sharing information and generating interests. Soon enough, a more interactive use of Twitter emerged – Twitter chat groups and hashtags.

Twitter chat group is similar to the regular internet based chat groups. Usually there is a distinct topic and a preset time period where users can share thoughts under the 140 characters per tweet limit. To enter a chat session, the majority of the users use TweetChat and sign in with their Twitter account. This is where the little symbol – “#” or the so called “hashtag” comes into the picture. Hashtag identifies specific topics created by the chat group session administer. Users need to enter a specific hasgtag in order to connect and start all the fun of sharing thoughts or ideas.
